Pre-Abramelin Operation: Day 5 of 20

My preparations for the Operation are fully underway, and perfectly comprehensive. I’m not just going to swear the Oath and see what happens, no, I’m building a solid foundation for success.

I’m reading Jason Augustus Newcomb, Georg Dehn and, of course, Sam Mathers.

I’m preparing myself with twenty days of dedicated exercise, meditation, prayer, confession and seclusion / purity. These twenty days will demonstrate my will to commit to the full six to eighteen months (I’m hopeful to be complete in six!) operation. I will not lightly swear the Oath merely on a whimsical desire.

My fifth day started early, and began with exercise before my ablutions in preparation for meditation.

I set the Tesserae compilation album (from Abraxas 2) to play on ‘shuffle’ and go about setting out my altar (currently I’m using one of five candles, representations of the four elements, and eight Chaos Coins to represent the colours of the chaos currents). Incense will come when I swear the Oath.

I light the candle and consecrate this space and time to the results of the Operation. As I sit properly on my small cushion I’m already in a fair mind state and quickly slip into a meditative trance. My hands are entwined / clasped in a particular mudra.

Relying on the Middle Pillar Exercise as my framework, I venerate Kether and open my crown chakra. Naturally, I build a six-rayed star with my mind’s eye - not a flat hexagram, but a fully-formed star. Part of me works out that a six-rayed star might be built around a cube, and so the numbers implied are 4, 6, 8, 12, 24. I let this process come to an end and let go of the meaning, for as you know, I believe that ‘chaos magickians don’t count’ (in all respects).

I can’t help but accept the crown of Kether in an astral form, as a horned Minbari coronet.

Moving to Da’ath, I open my Air chakra, encompassing my face and throat. As I slowly fly through the currents, I ‘receive’ or recognise the following:

The power to see; the power to speak.

This is extraordinary, and something I mean to reconsider.

I accept the astral face-mask and collar of Da’ath.

Moving down to Tiphareth I open my chakra and ‘flame on’, feeling the heat empower my whole form, and running down my arms especially.

I accept the astral chest piece.

Moving to Yesod, I open my Water chakra and feel a different kind of power source kick-in.

I accept the astral plexus piece and reticulated armour.

Moving to Malkuth, I open my Earth chakra and bring everything I have felt to my physical form.

I accept the foot and leg armour, along with my astral codpiece of doom!

I take two or three minutes maybe to encourage and feel the flow from the creatrix down through my Pillar and out and up again.

Now I intone my favourite elemental evocations, working from Spirit through to Earth.

When complete I work, a third time from top to bottom, to set my five shields, the pure spirit, the storming winds, raging fire, turbulent ocean, and quaking earth.

Now to prayers and confessions!

Yesterday I spoke prayers and confessions based around the four elements; today my prayers and confessions are inspired by the eight colours of chaos, represented by my handmade sigilised Chaos Coins.

I pick each coin up in turn (they are placed around the candle each morning in a new order, which is rapidly developing into a pattern) and pray for what I feel I need based around that colour (e.g. Orange is Mental Chaos Magick, so I pray for a host of mental acuity skills) and then, when I’ve exhausted my correspondences, I confess the difficulties I have (e.g. for Orange, I confess my intolerable pride in my intellect, my actual lack of educational progress, the failing of my potential and a heap of personal ‘sins’).

Eight colours and numerous prayers and more confessions later, I feel I have come to know myself a little better, and understand my Will and Shadow a little more.

The morning has flown by, and it’s time for tea, vitamins, and fruit n fibre cereal, which form my Eurcharist.
